Introduction to my story! (I hope, er know you will enjoy!)

The Last Dragon of Argon

~ Introduction ~

King Bradaken a man in his late twenties with dark chocolate brown hair with eyes that matched so well and his wife Queen Aria a young woman in her mid twenties with shoulder length brunette hair and dark green eyes with there newborn son Prince Artix, who had a head full of dark hair with piercing blue eyes, and the prince’s beloved nanny Aquella Brock a young nanny with medium blonde hair and dark brown eyes (who tended him so well) were traveling home from a meeting with Braymer’s King Ferrell.
It was May 21, 1629 at about ten-thirty at night and they were almost back to their home, a castle in Argon.
The driver, Cyrus had been the stagecoach driver for thirty years serving King Bradaken’s father before his unexpected death of a heart attack nine years back. He was getting quite tired for a fifty-two year old man which was dangerous considering the horses harnessed to the stagecoach had been broken just a week ago and still had a bit of wild in them.
Queen Aria commented, “It is getting late, why are we not home yet? We had left several nights ago.”
Her husband smiled and reassured her, “I am sure we are almost there. Look out your door. Can’t you see the castle lights?”
She nodded, “Yes, I see.”
“I am sure Artix will continue sleeping after I put him to bed Queen Aria. I can assure you haven’t any need to worry.”
Aria smiled at Aquella and agreed, “He is a hard sleeper. I am sure you will do just fine with him. Tell me Aquella how old are you now?”
“Almost twenty-two my queen.”
“Well you are very mature for your age. We are proud to have you as our son’s nanny. You are good to him as if he is your own. If anything was ever to happen to us I would rest in peace knowing he is in your care.”
Aquella seemed taken aback by such a compliment from the queen. “Why… why thank you Queen Aria.”
“That goes for me too,” added King Bradaken smiling.

All of the sudden they heard the dreaded call of a Dark Malth to the three moons above Ancient World and almost immediately the horses started bolting down the road! Both women screamed and King Bradaken tried to see what was happening. They all could hear Cyrus shouting for the horses to slow down but they didn’t obey. Prince Artix woke and started to cry in his nannies arms. Aria’s face turned pale as she screamed as the coach jolted, “My baby! Don’t let my baby die!”
Bradaken held his wife and shouted, “Cyrus, what is going on?”
When Cyrus didn’t answer he looked out the door and saw that Cyrus was no where in sight. “My word he has fallen and the horses are going crazy!”
Aquella was terrified and didn’t know what to do. She shouted, “What should I do with Prince Artix?!?”
Aria screamed and gripped onto the door of the stage coach.
“Jump out Aquella! It’s the only way any of us can survive. Jump out with Artix and I will get Aria to follow.”
Aquella braced herself with the baby in her arms. She jumped hearing the mother’s screams behind her and landed in a pasture tumbling with the baby close to her. She tried to open her eyes but everything went dark.

Aquella woke to find herself being licked by the tongue of a friendly shepherd’s dog. The scene around her was of a field, sheep, and many different wild flowers. Not far from her was a small creak which she thought would be a good place to clean herself up.
She tried to remember why she was in the grass and where she was but everything seemed hazy and dark. ‘It must be early in the morning.’
She started to remember bits and pieces at a time. ‘A jump, yes I had jumped out of something… but what and better yet, why?’
Just then she heard something, at first it was faint but then she could hear the clear sound of a baby crying.
Suddenly, the horrendous thoughts of the other night swept back to her mind and she got to her feet and ran towards the sound. She found the baby, Prince Artix, weeping in a small patch of crabgrass. She picked him up and looked around while she tried to console the boy. “Shhhhh… there there, everything is going to be just fine. Shhhhhh…”
The first thing that came to her mind was to find the king and queen.
“King Bradaken! Queen Aria! Where are you?”
A terrible thought came to mind, ‘What if they are injured or worse dead? Oh someone help me!’
Aquella started up the hill to where the coach had once driven.
Once at the top she found the day old tracks and followed them. They led her to the coach turned upside down about 7 yards from the path. The horses were gone and she didn’t see Cyrus anywhere.
She set down Prince Artix on a small blanket and walked up to the coach door. She tried to pull it open and after several unsuccessful pulls she got it.
She peeked inside to see the bodies of the oh so beloved king and queen. She hopped inside and shook the king. He didn’t respond so she checked his pulse. ‘Please don’t be dead please!’ She felt for his wrist and put her fingers over it to feel nothing.
“No! Aria, please be alive!” She checked her pulse and felt a faint little beat.
‘Thank goodness, she is breathing’. Aria slowly opened her eyes, her purple dress looked like a dark royal purple in the slight darkness of early dawn.
She smiled at Aquella noticing on her head some faint bruises and whispered, “Aquella, please take care of my baby boy. Keep him safe until he is old enough to take the crown. He must not know who he really is until… until…”
“Until what my queen!”
“Until he is of the age to take the crown. His Uncle Uldor will take the thrown and make Argon a dark place but, if Artix lives to take the thrown and overthrow his twisted uncle then he can save us. He is to find the last dragon of Argon.”
“Here Aria, let me help you out. I think you can make it.”
“No! Don’t put your life at risk. I shall die here by my husband. If God is willing I may live, if not, I will perish.”
“But my queen, why do you choose to stay here?”
“Even if I choose to live, I couldn’t be queen any longer. You know that Uldor will take over. He will do whatever he can to be sure I stay out of his way. It is better if I am not alive and Artix grows up to rule. Run now before someone comes. This road may get busier as the day goes along. Someone will find us sometime.”

Aquella was very disturbed about leaving the queen but she knew she must obey.
‘Also what was Queen Aria talking about dragons for…?’
All she now knew was she must keep Prince Artix a secret or both of their lives will be at great risk.
